Biography
Deborah Woodson was born in Georgia, USA, and began her musical career at the age of two in the Baptist Church Gospel Choir. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina.
Deborah Woodson now lives in Cologne and has appeared in many television programmes: WDR Kölsch on Broadway, Eine schöne Bescherung, Kölner Lichter, RTL Gospel Weihnachten and RTL DSDS-Deutschland is looking for the superstar as a vocal coach. Enthusiastic Bible TV fans will certainly remember the German Gospel Award where she served on the jury for 3 years in a row.
She is a much requested vocal soloist, so several times with the band Brings among others in the Rhein Energie Stadium in front of 50.000 spectators. In the role of “Motormouth Maybelle” she received great recognition in the original German premiere of “Hairspray”. She was also involved in the role of “Church Lady” in the Martin Luther King musical “The King of Love”. Deborah presents two own musical shows “Sister Soul Divas” and “Sing Hallelujah”.
Deborah founded her gospel ensemble “Gospel Soulmates” and has published 3 gospel CDs (Salvation, Gospel Jubilations, Christmas Gospel) and 3 English books (God has chosen you, Gospel Jubilations, The Joy Principles). One book “Wendepunkte” was translated into German and published by Brunnen Verlag.
Deborah Woodson & Gospel Soulmates were the first ever colourful ensemble to perform a gospel concert in the famous Frauenkirche in Dresden. Since 2015 she has been regularly touring Germany with the concert series “Black and White Gospel”, in which local ‘white’ gospel choirs with the black professional ensemble around Deborah create the programme.
